Objectives of this Lesson:
1.          The students will listen to the teacher read My Heart Is Like a Zoo and show that they understand it by answering simple yes/no questions about the story correctly.
2.          The students will be able to say, write and show that they understand the meaning of the words “heart, square, triangle, rectangle, circle and oval”.
3.          The students will be able to use the structure “It is (adjective)-shaped” in their own speaking and writing. (ex: It is heart-shaped.)

1. The teacher will lead the students in singing “Old McDonald had a farm”. The teacher will ask the students what kind of animals can be found on a farm and list these animals on the board.

2. The teacher will read My Heart Is Like a Zoo to the students. Teacher will ask students look at the cover of the book and say what they see.

3. The teacher will point out the shape in the story by asking the students “What is the shape?” while showing the pages with the adjectives on them. The teacher will show the students cards with these words on them and ask the students to demonstrate the meaning of the words using their own words.

4. The teacher will show the students the sentence structure “It is heart-shaped.” on the pocket cart and will show the students how change the adjectives to make the different sentences to answer the question “What is the shape?”

5. The teacher will divide the class into to five teams and lead them in playing the Shape game.
